NOTHING BUT // COCONUT ICED DOUGHNUTS

Right, that's it, I am doing it! I am going to bake up some doughnuts and eat every single one of them because life isn't fair sometimes and this girl needs all the doughnuts.

TEA LADY WEARS // OVER THE BORDER

I am going to let you all in on a little secret.

Are you ready?

Shhhhh......

Come closer....

I am opening a bar!

STRAW HAT // TOPSHOP // SALE - £10.00 // SIMILAR HERE

What with the tea house hitting a grand age of 6 years old, The Tea Bee heading in a direction that I only ever really dreamt about, I thought, hey, why not just open up a blooming bar.

I can sleep when I'm dead, right?

This venture is well on the way to being finished and let me tell you, it is looking pretty darn fine. Reclaimed pallet wood, raw concrete and working with the buildings original features has been an absolute pleasure.

Gin & ginger ales all summer long, craft ales getting you right through the winter. We have all your after work needs and weekends planned out for you.

Sound perfect right?

Where is it you ask? Middlesbrough, obviously, because if I could marry a town I would have been a very young bride. My love for this little town just grows and grows and I could not be any prouder to be a Teessider through and through.

There is a little part of Middlesbrough that has always had a bit of a bad reputation, over the border territory or so it is known to us.

If you are not from Middlesbrough or surrounding areas let me sock this to you a little easier.

Middlehaven as it is now known was more of a haven for let's say, ladies of the night, a decade ago. It was the place to go when you needed/wanted a little pick me up from some late night entertainers, entertainers of the bedroom to be exact.

Houses have been knocked down over there to leave vast derelict land in the shadow of Middlesbrough's beauty, the Transporter Bridge. Possible investors had 'visions' but most of them were empty promises, but bit by bit smaller businesses starting taking risks and giving over the border a go.  I have to give it to them, it takes guts to really try and grab Teessides attention. Up popped a beautiful restaurant here, up popped a building of creative industries there, and up popped Middlesbrough College and Boho House.

I am somewhat obsessed with this area known as Boho/Middlehaven/Over the border and have always wanted to see something special grow over in the barren land. Without boring you too much on this 'opening a bar' over in this area of the town, we really are taking a risk. A little bit like this Paisley Shirt* from Hawes & Curtis. I have always been one for colour and pattern and this beauty is so sweet.  This little silk number is perfect for Summer meets Autumn when you want your arms covered but nothing to heavy. Cue the shirt.

I thought I would take a little wander around my new parts and see what it had to offer. Woah, there, Middlehaven, when did you become a bloggers paradise. Brick walls for miles in a bundle of shades, coloured garage doors to really off set that new outfit you got yourself there Carls!

I am super excited to get this little bar up and running. You can go give Hit The Bar a follow over on it's social channels below and let me know what you think.

I am totally in love with the back end of summer and that darn golden hour.

Love Carli x

MAKING A HOUSE A HOME // DIY

As of recent I am having to make real adult life choices on something that I do not want to do.

This post was originally going to be a room tour but it just didn't seem to fit right because of what the near future holds, so a room tour has been put on the back burner. Cue new blog post with a few tweaks here and there and we are back on track.
