PEANUT BUTTER KITKAT BROWNIES

I was ready to bake up some peanut butter brownies this week due to me stumbling upon this!!

I was ready and meant business until....

I received a link to some kitkat brownies from one of our lovely tea bees. I thought why not add these into my recipe and make everyone very, very happy?

Add them in or take them out; it's up to you but the crunch the kitkat gives is just great.

A whole kitkat AND a brownie it's a win win situation. So here we go... It's really simple and made in one pot so there is no excuses not to bake these up this autumn.

What you will need:

400g caster sugar
225g melted butter
60g cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
225g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Half jar of peanut butter - I used Reece's you can use any
Pack of kitkats

1 brownie tin

You ready for how easy this is? It is all mixed in one pot so minimal mess - which means less washing up. Bonus!

Preheat your oven to 180c

Pop the caster sugar into a big bowl and add the melted butter and stir.

Add the cocoa powder.

Add in the vanilla extract and you guessed it, stir. Just keep stirring after each ingredient. That will make it a lot  simpler around here.

Add the eggs.

It should a really rich, creamy, chocolaty pot of love like this:

Then add the flour.

Add the baking powder and salt and pop in as much peanut butter as you wish. These are your brownies so if you want the whole jar in it, it isn't going to do no harm.

Give it one last big mix, put into the brownie tray and even it out.

You can either strategically lay you kitkat fingers so each brownie gets a good old crunch or just pop them in like me and hope for the best.

Cover the little fingers over so that the brownie bakes around them.

Put these little beauties in the oven for 20 mins and you are done.

I drizzled over some chocolate ganache and some more melted peanut butter.

Look at that slice of kitkat baked into the brownie. The perfect accompaniment to a lovely brew.

Who was lucky enough to grab one of these in store last week?

You need to remember I am not a professional baker - just cake eater! I change recipes as I go along - some work and some really really don't. It's all trial and error, so never be put off, just pick up that wooden spoon and try try again!
