I can't stop thinking about French blooming Toast.
It is known to me this as 'Eggy Bread' but French Toast is the correct term or so I am told. It is a slice or two of white bread, dipped in egg and slapped in the pan. Job done. Oh, no, not here my friends. Le Chalet in Leeds bring this to a whole new level. Give me this in a truck load and my life would be complete.
With a side of Bacon? Yes Sir! Can you think of a better way to kick start your weekend?
I am not a huge fan of cinnamon in all it's glory but a dash here and there and I am all over it. The cinnamon on these little slices of heaven were just right and they didn't hang around for long.
I ventured to Leeds with my main blogger bae Megan who was nominated for Best Blogger Pro and Best Beauty Blogger at the Bloggers Blog Awards at Canal Mills.
As breakfast (or brunch in our case) is claimed to be the most important meal of the day, we thought it would be rude not to follow this feast with a cocktail. Just to cleanse the palate. We most certainly didn't shy away from the delights on this menu.
I was tempted by the Eggs Bennie's or the Crepe with all the trimmings being the ultimate Crepe fan, but as this being a French Bakery & Tearoom I thought it would be a total slap in their face if I didn't order their much raved about Pain Perdu with bacon, syrup and a smudging of avocado.
As it arrived we were wondering how the devil we would fit this all in our little bodies but we managed as we are actual vultures. The brioche was the perfect sweetness with a dusting of icing sugar and then doused in maple syrup.
This was all washed down with one of those tasty cocktails, a Mimosa for me and a French Martini for Megs.
The interior was super, super French and the more I clicked my little camera away the more in love I fell with the place. Down to the wallpaper, the light shades, the art work and that darn macaroon tower.
I love a good hidden gem and this place can be found at 31-32, Park Row, Leeds, LS1 5JD.
A huge supporter of independent businesses and passionate staff, Ellie really made our visit an utter treat. Chatting away and telling us about all her lovely customers and how relaxed everyone feels when they visit with some coming for breakfast and staying till tea time.
Oh, and Megs, did she win? Course she blooming did. Both awards straight in the bag. This girl makes me the proudest bestest on the planet :)
I think we should celebrate with another round of French Toast? What do you think?
Love Carli x
