ARTE UTIL: THE CAFE AS A PROJECT

If only all my meals were as tasty and filling as this one. I could easily turn into being vegetarian. But as we all know my love for bacon is real, so something really gotta sock it to me to stray me away from that little piggy piggy and blow my house down.

I heard on the grapevine that The Waiting Room were opening up a little cafe in Middlesbrough in Mima. Arte Util: The Cafe as a Project is truly to die for. Mima is blooming fantastic too and we are ever so lucky to have an art gallery like this in our town, so make sure you stop by. I am sure some of the cafes tasty treats can tempt you to venture over Mima Square.

The Waiting Room have a cute little restaurant over in Easglescliffe, just a 15 minute drive from Middlesbrough which hosts art, spoken word and some great live music events too.

The food here is unreal and with my other half a super meat lover he was quite dubious upon trying this out when we first ever went to Easglescliffe but he was totally blown away by it. I win yet again.

The cafe at Mima is still not open, open as of yet as as they seem to be having a soft launch. This is a great idea for small independent businesses to grow and nail serive so you can gauge how busy you are going to be and how many supplies you will need per day. When this place is promoted it will be a total sell out each day. Mark my words.

Last week I  headed over with fellow foodie, footie fan and travel blogger Henry C of A Road to Nowhere to sample the goods.

I just could not choose what to eat so we had a brew while we mulled over the choices.

I eventually opted for the Aubergine Cashew Plait with Roasties and Port Sauce.

Not too sure what this was going to be we decided on sharing two dishes which was the perfect choice for a greedy gannet like me. The tea was flowing and we got chattering away.

Super speedy and delish the Cashew and Aubergine made for a real yummy taste. The texture was just wonderful. The Port Sauce and them Roasties with a few sneaky Carrots made for the perfect lunch and warmed me right through.

The pastry was just delightful too. Nice and buttery with the perfect crunch.

As I have gotten old, older, elderly, I love a good bit of Quiche. Not to sure how I can handle the texture but it just works for me. This Mushroom & Spinach number looked terribly appertising so a slice of that was needed for good measure.

As the cafe got busier and busier I made a beeline for the cakes so that they didn't all go. Come on it's the weekend after all and this girl needs cake.

Chocolate Orange Cake with a side of Fruit Scone, butter, jam and whipped cream over here please!

Now I can tell you right now I was full. Full in a good way, full as in can we stop back tomorrow and eat that all again kind of full.

This really is my sort of place, from the interior to the menu to the food. They even have ale on tap in the main dining area which get's them extra brownie points from me. This is my ultimate dream. All they are missing is a keg or two of Sleeping BrewTea.

Arte Util: The Cafe as a Project is situated in the ground floor of Mima. They are open Tuesday through till Sunday so you have a great window of time to stop by and try these delights out for yourself. You can even take a peek at some of the exhibitions that are on at the moment, Basil Beattie and The Cercle d'Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise to name a few.

Do make sure you stop by. Vegetarian or not you will most certainly not be craving a slice of bacon one little bit.

See you guys real soon for another wonderful lunchtime treat.

  2. When we all introduced ourselves at event space here. We were received warmly by all those who participated in the event. Events here are a lot of fun, giving access to features that aren't always the easiest to get into and aren't always the most wallet friendly.
